JURAJ OPRSAL
(*1953 in Martin, Slovak Republic)
Graduated from the Secondary School of Art Industry in Kremnica, department goldsmith, silversmith and from the College of Fine Arts Bratislava - Glass in Architecture department. During his studies he was supervised by one of the icons of Czecho-slovakian glass school – professor Vaclav Cigler. Immediately after his studies graduation he worked as teacher at Department of Design at Secondary School of Art Industry in Kremnica (Slovak Republic) and since 1980 as a freelance artist. After the Velvet revolution in 1989 he stepped on the public sphere. Between 1989-1995 was active as President of Slovak Glassmakers and between 1995-2000 as a chairman of Zdruzenie S.K.L.O (Association G.L.A.S.S. ). In 1999 he co-founded First May association, in which he is still an active member and author of variety of international fine-art projects. Between 2007-2009 he worked as adjunct lecturer at the College of Fine Arts at the Department of Photography.
